Nokia Maps configuration

To use Nokia OVI Maps there're some configuration you have to ensure:

1. Set Positioning Method Integrated GPS enable.

Tools>Settings>General>Positioning methods>Integrated GPS>Enable

Your Nokia Ovi Maps then will use built-in GPS receiver of your cellphone, you can enable assisted GPS also if you like, theoretically will catch satellite receiving a bit faster but you pay little penny for that.

Just for a little idea...

- Bluetooth GPS is used for external GPS devices as a receiver to find a position

- Assisted GPS uses data and cell phone towers to lock GPS faster (data rates are charged)

- Integrated GPS is just integrated or built-in, no charge !

- Network Based uses cell towers and wi-fi signals to find positions...

2. Set Positioning Server Address : supl.nokia.com

Tools>Settings>General>Positioning Server>Server Address>supl.nokia.com

Further configuration for your convenience

- Align the map to north or to route.

Nokia Ovi Maps>Options>Tools>Align map 

- Map Modes : Map (no additional charge, as you downloaded the maps by pc)

- Voice guidance : up to you, can be set in your native language (download from map loader)

Nokia Ovi Maps>Options>Tools>Settings>Navigation>voice guidance>your native language

- Backlight : system default

as my observation cellphone backlight will ON only when speaking while navigating you, if not light will OFF then save your battery!

- Auto zoom : ON

Nokia Ovi Maps>Options>Tools>Settings>Navigation>auto zoom>ON

- Map categories : mark all or as your choice
Small colored icon of point of interest (bank, hotel, petrol station, cinema, shop, etc) will be displayed all over the map even along side your route. 

Nokia Ovi Maps>Options>Tools>Settings>map>categories>mark all

- Maps color : Automatic

Day or night view style will be defined base on cellphone time
