Nokia Custom Dictionary remembers frequently typed words.

Nokia Custom Dictionary is designed to offer an easy way to manage the custom dictionary on your smartphone.

The custom dictionary is used for storing your personal words that are used frequently while typing. These words are then used in predictive text input.

Nokia predictive input text (T9) makes message typing faster

Nokia predictive input text (T9) can enter any letter with a single keypress. This makes writing faster and more efficient. Predictive text input is based on a built-in dictionary.

To use the predictive text input, you have to activate it.
When writing any message, select Options > Input options > Activate prediction.
You can also turn it on and off by pressing the "#" or shift key.

On the latest one you have to activate it by selecting:
Menu> Tools> Settings> General> Personalization> Language> Predictive Text> ON
You can also turn it on and off by pressing the "#" or shift key while typing a message.

To type word "come" without T9 (traditional text input) commonly you'll do like this
c = press button "2" 3 times
o = press button "6" 3 times
m = press button "6" 1 time
e  = press button "3" 2 times
so totally "9" times pressing button only to type "come"

To type "come" with T9
c = press button "2" 1 time
o = press button "6" 1 time
m = press button "6" 1 time
e  = press button "3" 1 time
yes, single keypress for each character

so totally only "4" times pressing button to type "come"

In case if your word can not be predicted, you can add a new word to the dictionary,
select Spell, enter the word using traditional text input, and select OK. When the dictionary is full, the new word will be added and stored. You can even add a slang word or name of someone.


In a cellphone predictive text supports multiple writing languages. This allows predictive text to guess words correctly when typing with mixed languages. To select it go to writing language not phone language!

Is your mobile phone a non QWERTY (full keyboard) one? it doesn't matter, use T9 !

Install NOKIA OVI MAPS with Free Navigation licence on E71 (No more failed!)

As many people are wondering, I've tried to get Nokia Maps with FREE license on E71 but it's not getting success, sorry !  
But I didn't upgrade the firmware to the latest one before installed nokia maps v3.01_09wk44_b01_s60_3.1 that this version running like a charm on my N95 8GB with FREE license ! As you people may remember that some device like N5800XM needs latest firmware prior to install latest Nokia Maps.
I stay in middle east but i got free license for "Latin & Central America" which is useless for sure. These are the screenshoots :(

We can wait till Nokia release for the rest, but noting wrong if you want to try to get it on.

How to make built-in GPS phone as external GPS receiver (tested by Garmin PC with N95 and N82)

How to use your phone's built-in GPS module externally on laptop via Bluetooth. It is mainly targeted for Nokia N95, E90, 6110 Navigator handsets, allowing you to use existing, more sophisticated GIS applications.

Requirement:
- ExtGPS for s60 v3
- GPS Navigator that needs external receiver installed on a laptop
eg: Garmin Mobile PC 5.00.60g

Tested by:
Toshiba NB100 (netbook)
Toshiba built-in Bluetooth
Built-in GPS cellphone (I was using N82 & N95 8GB)


Step by step configurations:
- Install ExtGPS for s60 v3 to your built-in GPS cellphone
- Turn on your cellphone bluetooth, make it visible by other device
- Launch ExtGPS on the cellphone
- Enable your laptop bluetooth radio

double click bluetooth launcher icon or
start>all program>Toshiba>bluetooth>bluetooth settings

- Make new connection between your laptop to your cellphone via bluetooth
new connection>customs mode>select bluetooth device name>

select service class>serial port
service name>Symarctic ExtGPS

Assignment of COM port name>decide which COM port
or tick use default COM port>check which COM port it has been assigned

set up of COM port completed

setup connection name>you can change name and icon
create shortcut on desktop
registration of connection information completed.

- Connect your your laptop to your cellphone via bluetooth
Find out the shortcut on desktop
double click and let it establish the connection

- Check connection status on cellphone, when it's connected, face your cellphone directly to sky to get positioning satellite signal, if it done will be shown as follow:

- Launch GARMIN Mobile PC on your laptop
- Configure GPS receiver to use serial port : I was using port no 47 as above setup, then enable it.
- Try navigate somewhere and your laptop will guide you to go here and there up to destination,

I don't find the necessary to get it all, because my N82 & N95 8GB can do independently, but I would be happy if my existing laptop also can help me, yeaaah... just empowering (the existing) device!

QIBLALocator using GARMIN MOBILE XT

Are you on the go and having Garmin Navigator then wondering a Qibla direction?
Can I define QIBLA direction using GARMIN? yes you can!

Requirement :
1. GARMIN navigator, I am using Garmin Mobile XT v.5.0050s60 in N82
2. Garmin City Navigator Middle East (Middle East Map) or
just a coordinate of KABA (latitude=N21.42252 & longitude=E39.82621)
3. Your country map or you can use worldwide base map.

How to do ?
1. Define Qibla by coordinate and put in Garmin>Where to?>Position>enter coordinate
to change type of coordinate format Garmin>Tools>setting>system>location format
and you can define Qibla by browse the map manually inside map of Makka city in Saudi Arabia
when you get, save it. it'll be stored in my location Garmin>Tools>Manage my data>my location.>rename it to QIBLA
2. Garmin>Tools>setting>routing>route preference>OFF ROAD
3. Garmin>Where to?>My Locations>QIBLA>GO !
4. Check the direction ! Pink colored line will lead you a DIRECTION TO QIBLA

Nokia Maps configuration

To use Nokia OVI Maps there're some configuration you have to ensure:

1. Set Positioning Method Integrated GPS enable.

Tools>Settings>General>Positioning methods>Integrated GPS>Enable

Your Nokia Ovi Maps then will use built-in GPS receiver of your cellphone, you can enable assisted GPS also if you like, theoretically will catch satellite receiving a bit faster but you pay little penny for that.

Just for a little idea...

- Bluetooth GPS is used for external GPS devices as a receiver to find a position

- Assisted GPS uses data and cell phone towers to lock GPS faster (data rates are charged)

- Integrated GPS is just integrated or built-in, no charge !

- Network Based uses cell towers and wi-fi signals to find positions...

2. Set Positioning Server Address : supl.nokia.com

Tools>Settings>General>Positioning Server>Server Address>supl.nokia.com

Further configuration for your convenience

- Align the map to north or to route.

Nokia Ovi Maps>Options>Tools>Align map 

- Map Modes : Map (no additional charge, as you downloaded the maps by pc)

Nokia Ovi Maps>Options>Map modes>Map

- Voice guidance : up to you, can be set in your native language (download from map loader)

Nokia Ovi Maps>Options>Tools>Settings>Navigation>voice guidance>your native language

- Backlight : system default

as my observation cellphone backlight will ON only when speaking while navigating you, if not light will OFF then save your battery!

- Auto zoom : ON

Nokia Ovi Maps>Options>Tools>Settings>Navigation>auto zoom>ON

- Map categories : mark all or as your choice
Small colored icon of point of interest (bank, hotel, petrol station, cinema, shop, etc) will be displayed all over the map even along side your route.

- Maps color : Automatic

Day or night view style will be defined base on cellphone time

Install NOKIA OVI MAPS with Free Navigation licence on incompatible or unsupported devices

I have written on how to get nokia ovi maps free licence or free navigation for life time and given you nokia official site for this feature, if you put your eyes on you will find that up to i posted this, the feature is only compatible for some devices like : 

• Nokia X6, 
• Nokia N97 mini, 
• Nokia N97, 
• E72, E55, E52, 
• Nokia 6730 classic, 
• Nokia 6710 Navigator, 
• Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic, 
• Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition, 
• Nokia 5230. 

How about others (devices) ? well i am pretty sure that nokia will release it soon. I don't know exactly !

So what happens with them? As i know Nokia maps still will run but when you put Navigation ON it will continuously asking you a valid licence because you have it expired, annoying huh?

But it doesn't mean you can not get this feature completely !

By some little tricks i get my wife's cell phone the N95 8GB free navigation hands-on, hahaha. 

Yes i did my self and of course I'll share to you here

How to get this working?

1. Install Nokia Ovi Maps (NOM), see HERE or HERE
2. Open Nokia Maps from your cellphone.
3. Put your Nokia Maps Internet ONLINE.
4. Get the satellite signal become green.
5. Navigate somewhere by drive to or walk to
6. When it's telling that your licence expired than prompt you to renew, select NO.
7. Back and select options, Shop and licences, My licences
8. Choose "Update"
9. Let NOM check online your licence and updated until finish.
10. You will get new message "No Update available" but check your licence, you will find it "Valid until dd/mm/yyyy" that is the date in future and the icon change from triangle red to circle green. That means your licence in not expire anymore.
11. Try navigate somewhere again, and tell me that NOKIA will guide you by FREE. (you can put OFFLINE before trying)

I did with N95 8GB and I got 167 days validity exactly !
But may be you are wondering how about after then, don't worry just do the same, yes just UPDATE IT, that's all ! you will get more validity ahead.
Even  I tried I set my cellphone date to a day to expiration date of my licence, then hit UPDATE the licence and TADAAAA.... I got another 167 days validity ! Cooool..!
So no need to worry about huh! Meanwhile Nokia will release for the rest of phone. 


Nokia, billions thank to you have made it FREE FOREVER...
Anyway I'm still waiting for the next release for the rest of phone.

Install Nokia OVI Maps 3.0 without PC

I've recently found when I got my N95 8GB nokia maps upgraded to version 3.0 it was done by a new software from nokia called Nokia Maps Updater, for me it's alright. But how about other people that having PC runs with Mac OS or even if they don't have a PC yet? since nokia released NMU only in .exe file (that basically for windows) and not released in other format neither for mac nor .sis file!

Well then, after searching around i got that Paul N97 Geeks said NMU will install you of this software Nokia_Maps_3.01_2401_5.0_u.sis, and he did some tricky that made this .sis file out of PC during NMU installation, but it's only for  exp: N5800 XM, N97.

So if you have those cellphone you can just download it directly to your cellphone and install it!

Download Nokia_Maps_3.01_2401_5.0_u.sis.

Ah, finally I got .sis file for Symbian s6o 3rd edition that i extracted myself this morning using N82.
Here is the file:
